School Photos
Durham, NC Photography
I'm Lis — and I believe school portraits should be something families actually want to keep.
We are a fine art photography studio that believes school portraits should be something families treasure, not tolerate. I bring fine art photography directly to your campus, at a price that matches what families already pay — with a percentage of every session donated back to your school.
We come to your school, spend two minutes with each student, and send families home with portraits that feel like they spent the day in a luxury studio.
“Lis has a special gift to connect with every single student that sits in front of her camera and meet them exactly where they are. The result? She captures each child’s unique personality, providing families with photos that authentically captures their child at such a special time of year.”

Studio quality, same price
We've price-matched local school photography companies wherever possible. Families pay nothing extra for a selection of portraits worthy of wall art.
Every child's personality, capturedWe sing songs, tell jokes, sometimes dance. Some kids are soulful and reserved; others are silly. We meet each child where they are — it's amazing how much we capture in two minutes.
Deep Durham rootsWe're a small, local business. Lis Tyroler was born here and our whole team is local. We bring care, attention, and community investment to every school we work with.
The experience matters
Inclusive, low-pressure experience
The process is fast, fun, and especially less disruptive for students with special needs or children who feel self-conscious on traditional picture day.
A fundraiser for the school
Schools receive 10–20% of all sales, and participating schools can run fundraiser mini-sessions with us. These weekend-long events are only available to your parents — and schools receive up to 40% of the funds raised.
How it works
From roster to wall art
A detailed info PDF
1
Distributed to families before photo day. The school sends class rosters; we assign each child a code and print a form.
On photo day
2
The school sends students in by class. A parent or staff volunteer assists the line while I photograph each child with my studio assistant.
School's choice of backdrop
3
Children are photographed against a simple backdrop or outside in front of trees — whichever the school prefers.
Sibling, class & staff photos
4
Sibling photos, class photos, and staff photos are offered as determined ahead of time with the school.
